Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)
Comet folks, Snowed in by the lake. Our Allis D14 doesn't want to start. Trying to get the 6V battery charged up. On my list of things I should have taken care of sooner. Sometimes when things are working and its warm out we don't think how the cold can get a grip on all things out side. So while th...

Re: Dan's 65 Cyclone project !
Dan, Thanks for the insight into your process. I have a small tractor project to complete by next spring. I would like the sheet metal to look good. I have stripped the original layers of paint off using the Electrolysis process. Hope to get the body work (rust repairs and dents) worked out this win...

Root,
Cooper is having fun with you and the red car!
Sounds like you had a good trip to Columbus and Summit also. Always good to get some parts!

Re: Dan's 65 Cyclone project !
Dan,
Your body work looks great. I wish I understood shrinking and a lot of other body work skills.
Can't hardly see the patch on the back of the door.
How did you strip the door?
The new bent sheet metal part looks factory!

Thank you for posting the detailed work on your nice Comet! I enjoy the details of your work. I have not been playing with Comets long and am continuing to learn about these cars. Good luck with your project!

Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)
Joe and Jim and Folks, I appreciated all the positive input and suggestions/recommendations. The springs, air shocks, and car cover information is now here and myself and others can use the information to improve and protect these cars that we work on, drive, and enjoy! And I like tangents I do it a...

Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)
Comet folks, We are not quite snowed in, but it's not good out there! Maybe 12-14 inches south of the Lake and near 24 inches of new snow since yesterday about 10 miles north of us. I tried to get the F-250 in the shop and found that the 4 wheel drive was not working. That was not good, And once I g...

Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)
Jim, Folks, Thank you for that it will be a good reference for me to shoot for on the stance. Your car is awesome! I like those wheels. I did see a set of the Cyclone Chrome reverse hubcaps for sale on Facebook Market place. I think they wanted $300 ish for the set. I think these cars look good with...

Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)
Guys, Thanks for checking on me. A couple of things about the signature picture. A. I had larger tires on the rear, So now the rear tires are 1 inch smaller. B. The new front springs have raised the front end at least an inch. So the Comet is more level and almost feel a little low in the back end. ...

Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)
Comet folks, Happy Thanksgiving! I am considering new leaf springs on the Comet this winter. I have looked at the Eaton information and was considering the set with additional 2 inch in height. I think I had mentioned this before and there were some good comments and suggestions. This would be a pro...

Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)
Comet folks, Well our weather has turned to rain and in this neck of the woods at this time of year it sure could be a foot of snow here in the snow belt of the Great Lakes. The little red Comet is warm and dry in the shop. We had to squeeze it in next to the other cars in the shop for a maple syrup...

Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)
Guys, I checked a couple things on the lil red Comet today. Had John in the seat and slowly pushed the gas pedal to see where the choke closed. He said he moved it about 1/2 inch and the choke closed. he started the car and it was on high idle. Temp here was 70 degrees. Also looked into the top of t...

Guys, Cheryl and I took the Comet out for brunch. Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)
Guys, Thanks on the pics. Trying the double pump on the gas this morning and it did not work. So more to do on the fast idle Cleaned the bugs off the windshield and graded the comet north to lake City for breakfast. Must say it is a pleasure to drive now. And getting up to 60 quickly and bring it ba...

Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)
Guys, I did try the double pump on the pedal , and it did start on high idle. More testing required. Cheryl and I took "lil red" up to Erie for pizza and a trip around Presque Isle State park. We got lots of thumbs up and comments too! https://i.postimg.cc/1tq7FBX4/IMG-20241027-170735332-HDR-1.jpg h...
