Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)
A couple of things come to mind go ask. 1. Are you unplugging the vacuum advance when setting the initial timing? Have you ensured the advance is working as it should? Checked the diaphragm in the vacuum advance? I give little thought to idle timing and focus on full advance. 36 degrees is probably ...

Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)
I doubt SE Michigan is convenient - if you were closer I would be happy to square it away for you. Very hard to diagnose anything via the internet. I wish you luck and hope you find someone who can get her to purr like a kitten.

Re: Root's 64 Cyclone Build
Guess I lied. The starter does fit. Took a little engineering, ciphering, measuring and machining but problem solved… http://jcrootandsons.com/photogallery/var/albums/1964-Cyclone/IMG_3448.jpeg?m=1715726548 http://jcrootandsons.com/photogallery/var/albums/1964-Cyclone/IMG_3444.jpeg?m=1715726570 http...

Re: Root's 64 Cyclone Build
I had some time Saturday while waiting for the gentleman to come look at the T10. I took the opportunity to do some engine mock up. To test header fit to the engine and starter. Last Fall I had the idea of getting an indexable high torque mini starter and I had thought I could index to keep the sole...

Re: Root's 64 Cyclone Build
I am about 10 minutes north of the state line, 5 miles due West of I75. AA is like 40-45 minutes NNW of me.
Yes it will fit in a pickup bed. That is how I originally got it home.

Re: Root's 64 Cyclone Build
Well as luck would have it I sold the T10 for good $ today. So now I need an appropriate toploader. Willing to drive a bit for the right piece so if anyone knows of a 1 1/16 - 10 input, 28 output, 14” tailshaft length, wide flange let me know. Up in the air wide vs close ratio. I feel a close is pro...

Re: Root's 64 Cyclone Build
Well she is off the spit. Time to mock up the drivetrain, knock out a few other things like figuring out a cage and then start on getting the sheet metal all straight, flat and smooth. http://jcrootandsons.com/photogallery/var/albums/1964-Cyclone/IMG_3391.jpeg?m=1715388891 First step - tie the motor...

Re: Root's 64 Cyclone Build
Doesn’t NHRA require a 6 pt minimum for cars faster than 11.50? How does that work for the 4 pt as 11.50 isn’t “slow” these days. I really wanted the 4 pt so I could have seatbelts. I have no interest in swing out or fixed front bars. The wife won’t think it’s cool having to crawl over or around tho...

Re: Root's 64 Cyclone Build
Are those tubes to the trunk bolted on? I feel like I see some
Fasteners about a foot behind the main loop.
Thanks for the PVC idea - I have never really done this but I really
Like your setup.

Re: Root's 64 Cyclone Build
So I think I am going to put a 4 pt cage in. It will need to be a prefab kit or I will need to measure and have custom bent. With that said, has anyone used any of the off the shelf kits such as Rhodes? Opinions? Experiences? Plan is to sandwich and bolt in. I would also like the trunk bars to follo...

Re: Zinc info
20W50 VR1 for me and the 331. Broke it in and ran all dyno pulls with Driven 10W30 break in oil + comp break in additive. HV68 Melling pump was 65 PSI cold and off idle and 35 PSI at idle after 6 pulls with the oil pretty hot. I put another pint of the comp break in lube in with the VR1. Probably go...
