Re: Carpet question
Loman, We did cut and sewn for all the reasons above. Some of our "customization" made me nervous that the molded wouldn't sit well. That said, we still had to tweak the carpets a little. With any sort of trans tunnel mods I'd definitely lean toward cut/sewn. You can see photos of my installation wi...

Re: 63 Convertible Build
Looks pretty good to me. None of that rust looks to have gone all the way through. I've definitely seen worse
I like the color. Have fun with this and keep posting photos.

Carnival Red (sometimes called Cardinal Red). We rattle canned the dash and metal parts on door panels. Even painted the dash pad. Always looked good to me, but we are not in for competition.

Re: 61 Idler Arm Pivot Bushing replacement
That is a tricky part. It changed thru a few sizes over the years until '65 I believe. I have a 64 and it's always been a bit of a chore to find the exact one. I *think* there are even two sizes in 64 (early 64 and late 64). I've always wanted to go the roller bearing replacement, but nobody does it...

Love everything about this car and project. 62 and 63 have the best chrome of all the years. You will make all kind of new friends. Not a day goes by I don't get at least one acknowledgement when I drive ours. Had two different people offer to buy it the last time I was in it.

Re: 2021 Comet Gathering in Pigeon Forge TN
Mike,
Drop down to Sikeston on 55, then over to Paducah, KY and take I-24 into Nashville. On the north side, take Briley parkway (155) around to the NE and get on I-40 on the East side of town. Bada Bing, Bada Boom.

Re: Any Cometers in Indianapolis area?
Hope so, Jim. Looks like about the same six-ish hour drive. Will know closer to that date. Not sure about the Comet, but I know the rules. Rule 1, get there. Rule 2 bring a Comet if you can.

Any Cometers in Indianapolis area?
Well, new year, new location. Wife and I moved to Indianapolis in 2019 and finally sold our house this Christmas. Meanwhile, Maverick moved West, and the Comet is in storage for a few months. Plan to get it here in Spring or Summer after I put a new top on.
So any Comet owners in the Indy area?

Re: Finally building my 64 Comet
to the carpets, we did the original, cut and sewn, loop, from Dearborn Classics. They were the ACC brand as I recall. We did cut and sewn because we had done some "custom" work on our floor pans (and by custom, I mean they weren't perfectly shaped). I was concerned that molded wouldn't sit flat some...

Love everything about it. Love the sound of that car, the father son aspect and the black and white classic photos. What a moment for you.
