Re: 65 Comet with 390
I did away with the plate that was made off of my template and made my own today. I'm happy the way they turned out. I just need to clean them up a little and they will be done. Should have done that a few weeks ago instead of waiting for someone else. I also made my tabs that the plates will bolt ...

Re: Fairlaniac's 1964 FE Pro Street Project
Been a while since I’ve posted, been a while since I gave the Comet some love. Too much going on and the Fairlane needed some love as well. I decided to get rid of the stock firewall and inner fenders and go with a smoother look. Working on a 1” sq. Tubing frame and support for the new firewall. I’v...

Re: Blown 1964 Comet
Doug, what is the canister with the Hurst decal and where'd you get that Cyclone decal? Leny, is the Comet going FE power? I can't remember. Stacey Stacey, Sorry for the delay. Excessive working and vacation kept me away from the forum the past few weeks. The Cyclone decal I think is from a set of ...

Ground strap should be from firewall to back of cylinder head.

Re: Fairlaniac's 1964 FE Pro Street Project
Doug, I was looking at your engine bay picture trying to get ideas for my car. What rear motor plate did you use or did you make it yourself? Also, do you have any advice/tips as far as placing the motor forward or back in the engine bay? I saw that you modified the firewall a bit is that because y...

Re: Hood
To remove springs open the hood, take a handful of 2-1/2" - 3" nails. Put about 5 or 6 nails between the spring coils and then lower the hood slightly. The coils will pinch the nails and not allow them to coil bind. The springs should all but fall out. Reach in and grab them.

Re: Need help getting on 64/65 Comet facebook
You still appear to use the Internet and possibly a computer. Since you have these parts I think business wise it would be smart of you to create a Facebook account to sell your parts. This way you can control the posts and will not need to use your step daughter as a go between. Also if people see ...

Re: 390 motors
Before you ever get too excited. Always measure the bore. There seem to be more 428 engine blocks out there that Ford produced. Racing NSS might make you run a 427 dual fours? Been a while since I looked at the rules. FYI - all FE's are basically the same on the exterior except 427 cross bolts, side...

Re: 390 motors
Anybody hear of these guys? I have never heard of them but I am not familiar with the FE world. http://bearblockmotors.com/ These guys have been a round a few years (3-4, maybe) and are producing pretty decent 427 blocks and FE heads. Apparently they are selling or close to selling their new tunnel...

Do what you want and makes you happy. I'm not a fan of the gasser look but then again, there are many who don't like the Pro Street look that I like.

Re: Headliner
Luke, I don't recall if you put a headliner in your Fairlane? If so, it's the same way with the Comet. I put a headliner in my Fairlane and that knowledge will help out as I am putting a fabric headliner in my '64 Comet. My Comet had the cardboard panels. Not a fan of that. the rear window must come...

Old Mercury (Comet) Dealership uncovered
A few weeks ago in Georgetown, DE a contractor began to remove the siding from a building that was recently sold. An air conditioning service had occupied the building along Rt. 113. Under the siding was the remnants of the old Town & Country Motors, Inc. Mercury dealership. The contractor is fillin...
