Re: 260 Tripower

Looking real good! Are you sure having all the carbs open at the same time will not flood the engine with fuel? I had a Ford tri power with Holley carbs on my ‘71 Comet GT, 302, mild cam, headers, 4 speed, I set it up with progressive linkage and it worked perfectly. I think having them set up to op...

Re: ‘65 Cyclone on Hemmings web site

A/FX, I sure wasn't picking on you. The car may be worth the money to someone with the skills and the desire to make improvements to the Cyclone. Keep posting! I did not take your comments as being picked on, no worries. When I see a Comet for sale or auction I instinctually think it needs to be po...

Re: ‘65 Cyclone on Hemmings web site

I just see the adds and post what I think might interest other forum members, the condition of the cars is beyond my control. Now that I looked at the pictures of this offering I see many items that are in need of attention. The rusty floor and exhaust headers are a real attraction getter, the engin...

1964 Parklane

Another one of my favorites, this time it’s a convertible Parklane. If I was younger, had unlimited funds, and was in need of a project this would be near the top of my list. Not only is it a rare body style but it is loaded with all the desirable options except factory air, it has power windows, se...

‘64 Convertible on BAT

Listed today on Bring a Trailer:
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1964- ... -comet-28/
I took a quick look at some of the pictures, saw some holes and patches in the floor.
It says the engine has been replaced but did not say if it was a newer 289 or a 5 bolt unit.

Re: Re-Wiring Diagram?

I did a complete rewiring of everything under the hood and inside the dash on my '64 Comet. The only original wiring left is to the headlights and parking lights/turn signals since that was still working OK. I have tons of experience with Comet wiring now. Some PO replaced the generator with a GM a...

Re: Re-Wiring Diagram?

It would help if you would include the details of the car….
Year, make, model, engine, etc.

Re: Loman's '65 race car

Have you tried Moser Engineering in Portland Indiana? https://www.moserengineering.com/ When I built the Winter’s 9” I calculated the overall width needed to fit the tires under the car, built the axle tubes to length then called Moser. I was going to Portland for a vintage scooter event so I stoppe...

Re: 260 2x4

Jim, I've noticed that a lot of the hardware on your car is golden color. Did you have them anodized? Jim Jim, I wanted something a little different so all the brackets, nuts, bolts, etc. throughout the car have been plated in “yellow” zinc. When I did the car in the 1970’s I chrome plated everythi...

Here is how I did the linkage on my Cyclone, the progressive linkage is reproduction, the accelerator cable is from a Fairmont. I fabricated the fuel log.

Re: Duffield-Lincoln-Mercury-Long-Beach-CA-1964

You can't really see the Comet's in detail, but I still think it is a cool picture. "1964 COMET" in big letters on the dealership window. Is that a Tiger out front in the street? Probably an Alpine. https://i.postimg.cc/T2NTK6rY/Duffield-Lincoln-Mercury-Long-Beach-CA-1964.png Very cool! What a line...

Re: 1962 Comet on BAT

I bet the dash sounds a lot better than it looks. what color is the dash butterscotch? :x But I dont think I've never seen the way the rearend is mounted before, the link mounts welded to the housing would have to go if I had it. maybe panhard bars. not sure what the black thing is mounted to the r...

Re: 347 Keeps Dying Randomly

You definitely need to determine if it is fuel or an ignition issue, otherwise you are shooting at a moving target. Rig up a fuel line to a gas can or similar and bypass the stock tank and lines. ( could be a rubber line collapsing) I am not familiar with MSD systems, maybe someone else can jump in ...
