Re: Finally building my 64 Comet

Update on this thread I started a few years ago on the build of my car, had some big changes in life and ended up getting a new house with a garage and I just recently got my car brought down here and I finally have her with me. After not having this car for well over a year it’s very nice having it...

Re: Finally building my 64 Comet

Well just an update of my life, wasn’t able to finish the rear end swap before moving so the car is tucked away in the garage under a cover at my dads house in VA, doesn’t look like I’ll be able to bring it down to SC for a while, house is needing stuff fixed and a garage being built is going furthe...

Did you like the springs from them? I’m thinking about going with those but I don’t want them to be too soft.

Leaf springs

Does anyone have any experience with a certain manufacturer when it comes to replacement leaf springs specifically on the 64's? Im looking at either general spring or the ones listed on Mac's auto parts as heavy duty 5 leafs.

Re: Finally building my 64 Comet

Well another update on the rear end, got the center section all put together and installed in the housing temporarily, also for the axles back from quick performance and man are they stout! Got the bearings pressed on last night and got them temporarily installed in the housing as well. Next step is...

Re: Finally building my 64 Comet

Thank you guys, I’m really happy with how the rear end came out and I’m excited to see it nice and shiny under the car. The housing ends I bought are from Quick Performance, they are the best company to deal with when it comes to rear ends, I can’t say enough good things about them. Prices are lower...

Re: Finally building my 64 Comet

The tires are on a seven inch wide wheel, I did stuff them in the wheel wells to measure for the rear end, I’m moving the springs inboard and then I’m going to roll the inside of the outer fender for some more room, if that isn’t enough then I’ll widen them but I am not worried too much about that. ...

Im running 3.55 gears and 28 inch tall tires, cruises right at about 3k at 70 and 2700ish at around 55, best setup in my opinion and still gets out of the hole like a bat out of hell.
