Realized I'm no longer capable of wrestling that lump back in there so I came up with this. It travels around the shop well, the center is secure on it and the pad is a little floppy to ease alignment onto the mount bolts. https://i.postimg.cc/cH5MC6tn/20240122_135344.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/zBfFqT...

Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)

If you have a wheel shop around you they can probably modify the back space to some degree to maximize tire size by moving the bell on the center. By the look of the wheels in the pics back space could be increased by an inch or more. I know those wheels well, have probably assembled a couple hundre...

Re: Loman's '65 race car

It amazes me how those piddlely little ujoints can handle more force than that axle!
I did a similar job on a 28 spline about an inch out from the spline, had a hella've time getting the pumpkin out.

Re: back in the saddle

It will clear just fine once I recess the firewall and move the motor back a few inches. I had a straight axle Falcon that the motor was back 10 inches. It's just metal and it can be cut and put back together again. I had planned on cleaning up the firewall anyways. Cool, now that I've read your bui...

Re: Building my 65 Comet

Happy about 2/3 things after reading your first post. I'm not an altered wheel base fan so there's that but I believe these cars were built to be modded so looking forward to following your build. To read someone sarcastically say at 74 "this will be my last build I promise" is exciting!

Re: back in the saddle
