Re: Back again after a few years away . . . . .
Thanks for the pointers! I'm a long way from needing them, but I'll check him out. Interesting that Melvins had pretty much all of the parts too- didn't see that coming. Dan As Boss mentioned, may be out of stock since Covid lockdown but I would call first thing Tuesday morning. I couldn't find a r...

Hey, Dan! Cool you found the Cyclone
I don't know how current Melvin's Falcon catalog is but they did have all of the badging goodies.

Re: Reproduction Horns
The ones John posted are correct for '63. Yes, there are cheaper versions of these sold by some vendors.
You need both brackets and mounting bolts to fit them to strut rod braces if you go stock.
The brackets are separate, as the horns. They mirror each other for fit.

Re: ‘64 Comet - Hemmings
Thank you for posting, Jim! I have a son in Lafayette. Was kicking around the idea of picking up the '63 S-22 to restore with my grandson but the logistics didn't work out. This would make a good classic car he could drive w/o worrying about him wrapping it around a telephone pole. I'll send him thi...

Re: Wheel Machining
I had a set and they were heavier than these aluminum ones so I sold them. I think I’m going to stick with these and either A) destroy them beyond use lol or B) find a shop to do the wok for me Thanks Joe! Yeah, I figured the car handles better w/ aluminum but thinking of safety. Had a AR aluminum ...

Re: Wheel Machining
Joe,
Just my dumb opinion but have you considered a set of steel wheels for road racing?
TTDs are nice but I wouldn't try modifying them for the track. Keep a set of street tires on them, slicks on steel.

Re: Joe's '63 1/2 Tinkering Thread
I thought I described it to a T? has the slot, looks like my pic. The ring on the cable fits the groove in the bracket? Si? Postimage doesn't allow me to magnify your picture. Rear floor pan....firewall.....toe board.....sounds close enough  Sold in pairs, bet you they are for the back cables ...

This is the parking brake return spring that I used on mine: https://www.npdlink.com/product/spring-parking-brake-lever-return/148372?backurl=search%2Fproducts%3Fsearch_terms%3Dparking%252Bbrake%252Bspring%26top_parent%3D200001%26year%3D Not sure if this is type clamp you need on the firewall or no...

Re: Joe's '63 1/2 Tinkering Thread
I probably have more time invested in installing the pedal type parking brake than any other component on my Comet. It’s my own fault, I tend to go overboard when building something. I used an aftermarket pedal assembly and fabricated all the brackets and mounts. I had a local shop make the three c...

Re: Joe's '63 1/2 Tinkering Thread
Thanks for the pic, John! Yes, my '63 the same as your shot of hole below the clamp. Here's '64 Caliente pic I took from the current auction. https://i.postimg.cc/QdpM5Bk4/1964-mercury-comet-img-4493-2-50173.webp Looks like cable exiting back of torque box, running through the crossmember, clipped o...

Re: Joe's '63 1/2 Tinkering Thread
When I replaced the cable on mine I must have gotten a quart of Georgia red clay dust out of that panel access. Mine was originally purchased in Macon, GA, and apparently spent a lot of time on GA back roads. Jim Mine has a bit of limestone dust, Jim. Not hurting a thing but needs to be cleaned out...

Re: Chili
My local Shelby club has a chili cook off every year. Of course ours all must use Carol Shelby chili mix. If you ever get a chance to visit Terlingua, Tx., make the trip and find a Mex café. Like eating on the surface of Mars but a lot hotter. Brisket sounds great, also! You guys making me hungry. ...
