Re: Doug's 65 Cyclone build
Jim: It is a custom color I had my paint guy make for me. Rootsey: I appreciate the work you are doing to save that car. Some guys wouldn't bother. My process is detailed in my build thread but the cut/polish process is 2K sandable primer finished with 400G, Color wet sand three times 800G, 1000G an...

Re: Doug's 65 Cyclone build
Looks great Doug!! Just a guess but I am thinking you don't have a HOA ?? When you sand and buff just a thought. If you mask off the windo/door openings, trunk, and engine compartment it will save you a lot of time cleaning up. Car is really coming along nice!! Lou Lou: we have an HOA but I was her...

Re: Doug's 65 Cyclone build
I got the photo story out of sequence. I assembled the car and gapped and surfaced it at the seams. When I was happy with if I drilled 1/8 locating holes in all the movable attachment points. Then I blew it back apart for color and painted the body on the rotisserie last Friday. https://i.postimg.cc...

Re: Doug's 65 Cyclone build
Looking good, Doug! 8) What's the name of the paint color? Jim Jim: the color is custom made for me by my paint guy. When I was buying paint for the Barracuda my paint vendor did four test sprayouts for me. I picked fourth one as the red I was shooting for. They call the color "Doug's real red". It...

Re: Doug's 65 Cyclone build
Thanks Joe: it is a lot of work but worth it! The photo below is one of my current driver that started me on the red road of build cars. I had a couple quarts of this custom color left from by barracuda build so it was a natural decision to paint the Cyclone red too---------------------- :D https://...

Re: Doug's 65 Cyclone build
Hey all, spent my summer sanding and priming. Some results below. The interior color is gray per the inside door photo. The rest is self explanatory and all panels are painted. I hope to paint the body on the rotisserie in my driveway the end of the week. https://i.postimg.cc/pVfjBg0z/door1.jpg http...

body gap allignment
Hey guys, I have my car assembled and gapped. I have it on the rotisserie for final panel matching and blocking. Since I have everything assembled I am thinking of drilling for pins to locate everything for reassembly after color. Have any of you used the pin method for reassembly alignment? It took...

Thanks Jim, I ordered the good ones today. Good to know that others have seen the problem. Seems like I have fitted everything 20 times to get it right.

Re: Doug's 65 Cyclone build
Here are some photos of my car. I am assembling it to gap the panels and match the body lines. It is suspended from the suspension points now but I will lift it on my rotisserie and roll it out to the priming and blocking. Has anyone had to change their hood hinges because they wont keep alignment? ...

Re: Doug's 65 Cyclone build
Looks Great Doug! Can't wait to see it in color. What did you use for the firewall behind the rear seat? And Happy Birthday! Lou Lou: I used 16Ga or 18Ga steel for this one. On the blue one on my signature I used aluminum. I like the steel better though, I made a cardboard template and transferred ...

Re: Doug's 65 Cyclone build
I am getting close to panel painting the color, the final blocking primer is on the unibody and doors. I installed the doors today to gap and match the lines at the rear of the doors. I will tune it a little more tomorrow with fresh eyes then roll it out and start working the lines and gap. Nothing ...
