COMET CENTRAL

tunnel will not need the off set like 64 or 65,top loader 4sp would have been factory,the shifter mounts mid way on tail shaft,,had bone stock 302 top ld 4sp 2;79 rear gear in my 67 fairlane ,worked great on interstate pop 67 comet----67 fairlane pretty much same car

ford put a 4sp od in 78--80 81 pu's,looks like top loader,i got one od is .68 to 1 pop

There used to be an ole boy many moons ago,driving a 57 or 58 ranchro with an edsel frt cap on it,,,didn't look half bad...pop

Roy maybe I don't get his question,I took it as,,he didn't know the 3 spd flyw,clutch set up will work with a 4spd....pop

use what ya got ...pull 3spd out,put in 4spd,may have to work over hole in floor for 4spd shifter,speed-o cable may or may not be the correct length,it don't take anything special going from 3 to 4 ,,same starter same every thing,,if your clutch ,pressure plate fly-wheel,throw out brg is good now ,,...

first thing comes to mind ,,make sure tach is set on 8 ,not 4 or 6........pop,,assuameing wireing is correct,,

I would love to drive up and check it out some weekend. Only about an hour and a half drive from here.
