Re: Carpet

Lou, We went cut and sewn because I felt like some of our body work was "custom" and i was concerned that a molded carpet wouldn't conform. Since I've not done a molded I can't speak to whether it would have worked or not, but I know the cut and sewn did work and I am not at all disappointed. I also...

Re: I’m back with another ‘64

Joe, I did a lot of research at the time, but nothing led me to a conclusive conclusion. Our block was stamped 63 (I don't recall the code but it's in our thread somewhere). We found more 63 (C3) parts in the engine bay than 64, and at least one 62 stamping. Our intake had the PCV valve which as I r...

Re: I’m back with another ‘64

I agree with this but add that I would paint the breather and v cover back to stock factory colors They are stock for 260, which I'm assuming this is. Air breather decal looks original. Joe Joe maybe for another ford but 64 comets were like a orangish red . look in groovers thread, he goes by the b...

Re: 289 keeps getting hot!

I keep one of those hand held temp probes hand for checking what is actually hot and what is not: https://www.amazon.com/Thermometer-Temperature-Calibration-Non-Contact-Emissivity/dp/B08VH8NKV3/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=infrared+thermometer+with+probe&qid=1662552613&sr=8-8 Might be useful in your sleuthing.

Welcome on Treehouse. Where in Illinois? I have spent the better part of my life in Carbondale, but move to Indy in 2019. My 64 Comet still resides in Illinois for now ;)

Hey John,

Does adding our photos in the signature count as posting a photo every time? If so we could certainly all do without the photo signature, right?

Re: 64 Falcon Track Car

Dear Fred, Great questions. I contacted the manufacturer and asked them. Here was their response: Dear Joe, The tape measures were cryogenically treated on the surface of the planet Jupiter and then calibrated to each other within .000003” (although they’re fractional). And then when returned to ea...

Maverick and I will not be able to join this year either, but I love thinking of this event as a "family reunion" with cars. Post lots of photos. And, somebody please tell a few tall tales.

Re: ‘64 Villager Wagon on BAT

I love the Comet wagons. This one even has the ever-elusive gas cap. Maverick and I always talked about doing a wagon build but somehow make it with a more modern SUV drive train. I drove a 1968 Ford Ranch Wagon in college. Highland Green. My dad bought it custom straight from the factory. 3 on the ...

Re: Wheel alignment

Agree 100% in "get adjustable strut rods" Believe some 63's had them, 64 did not. Don't know about 65. I bought the 63 rods to put on my 64. Agree 100% in "call ahead and tell them what you want to do" I wasted a lot of time waiting at alignment shops only to be told, "we can only set it as the book...

Re: Strong Gas Smell

I'm with johno here, check the cap. Ours was not venting properly and the gas was building up pressure. Then when we got back with a hot car and parked in the garage is smelled. Changed the cap and it got much better.
