Re: Vacuum secondaries vs mechanical secondaries
Vacuum secondaries do operate on vacuum, but not engine vacuum. They operate on Venturi vacuum, which is vacuum that is created by the passage of air being drawn into the venturi (carb) and as the engine speed increases, so does the amount of venturi vacuum. The venturi vacuum then reaches a point w...

I believe the carb was based on one used with a 352.

Re: Original hipo cyclone
Just to add fuel to the fire: The K code 64s were 4V cars, but the 4100 carb used was not the same as that used on a 289 Mustang 4v 289. The Comets used 1.12 carbs (not Hipo carbs) as opposed to the 1.08s used on the Mustangs. Their HP and Torque ratings were also higher.

Re: 260 Shelby
The kits you are referring to are "Cobra" kits, sold over the counter at Ford dealerships. You could get a Dual Quad setup, a Tri Power setup, HiPo heads, Dual point distributor, Hipo cam setup, and dress up kits. Depending on the Kit, you could get them for either 260 CID or 289 CID.

Re: 3D printed parts
Was talking to a friend the other day about the same idea. There are many parts that are not reproduced for various reasons, one being the limited market for some parts. My friend has a printer and had just made a devise for loading pistol magazines and he said it was easy. I think it is a great ide...

Re: 260 V8
The 260 is a fine "little" motor. I have one that came from my 63 Comet. I rebuilt it with .020" over pistons. To that I added a 212/212 Comp hydraulic cam, barely over stock, a 108 Autolite carb and a cast iron Ford 4bbl intake. It has an early C4 (Green dot/White dot) with a 3:25 eight inch rear. ...

Re: Valve lash solid lifter 289
A happy valve is a loose valve. Have a Comp Cams solid lifter cam in my 63 289/302, which is close to the Ford 271 cam. The valve lash is .022 intake and exhaust. Don't see how you could go wrong with that setting.

The body changes were for all. Suspension parts were only changed for V8 cars.

Re: 1963 Comet S22 conv radiator support
In order to fit a V8 in a Comet, the battery had to be moved and rotated. In order to do that, the radiator support had to be changed. In order to do that, the headlight bucket assembly had to be changed. In order to do that, the location of front attaching points on the fender had to be changed. Al...

Re: the right carb cfm for 260
Having a 260 I have this combo: Comp Cams hyd. cam (one step above stock with .447 gross lift and 212* duration int. & exh.) and a 4BBL. Then a C4 and a 3:25 open rear. The cam is so close to stock, that the idle is "just" slightly noticeable. When putting this engine together, I was thinking about ...

Re: Question for '65 owners about headliners...
One other thing you might try. See if you can "recline" the back of the seat. Being as tall as you are, reclining the seat will give you more headroom. Also, if you have thigh to steering wheel clearance, you could raise the front of the seat. This will have the same affect as reclining the backs. M...
