Re: 347 Keeps Dying Randomly
This maybe a long shot but I have heard about guys having this happen. Something foreign in the fuel tank plugs the pickup which starves the engine of fuel. As soon as the pump stops ( engine not running) the suction stops and the foreign piece moves away from the pickup until it makes its way back ...

Re: Finally building my 64 Comet
Having a removable lever is a bonus, my shifter is too old for that feature. I'm not sure when Hurst started offer that feature.

Re: Finally building my 64 Comet
I have a T-10 with a Hurst Competition plus that I bought in the late ‘60’s. It was specifically made for a Comet or Falcon, the lever is slightly shorter than I would prefer but it depends on where your seat is mounted.( photo attached) It is possible to modify the lever but I would recommend that ...

Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)
Did you prep the arm rest before shooting the SEM paint? The surface must be surgically clean and prepared with this product: https://semproducts.com/product/vinyl-prep/38343 The linkage on the carb maybe for the transmission kick down, I have had an early automatic trans in decades so this is just ...

Re: Ol' Black Mattie 63' Comet Custom Build
I installed’70 Mustang Boss 302 spindles in my Cyclone back in 1972, I also converted to the ‘65 style steering. Along with the spindles I used the Boss disc brakes, everything worked well. I would probably still have that setup if I had not converted to a strut front suspension. You should be able ...

Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)
After making sure your alignment is correct make sure you experiment with tire pressure. These cars did not have radial tires when designed so you have “modified” the suspension when you went with this type of tire. I have found that with the combination I have I need 35psi in the front tires to cur...

Re: 260 Tripower
Looks very nice. I have a suggestion, when you clamp the hose to the barbed fittings use “Fuel injection “ style clamps. They look better and tighten the hose around the perimeter evenly without cutting into the rubber. Jim https://www.maperformance.com/products/hps-304-stainless-steel-fuel-injectio...

Forget Amazon, go to your local NAPA store and talk to a professional parts guy. They offer multiple grades of brake parts. Nothing on my Cyclone is stock so I cannot provide you with exact part numbers.

You may have noticed that one of our most prolific posters, Joe Travers, hasn't posted since 12/26/23. https://www.cometcentral.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=16710 Turns out Joe suffered some serious complications from a mild case of Covid-19 that he had in early December, and has spent some time i...

Re: Where does the time go?
Responding to Jim's (there are far too many Jim's in here! :D ) original post... I'm about to retire after 45 years with the same company. Jan 31st will be my last day working. I've been reflecting over these many years and I'm struck by how quickly time has passed. Indeed, Where does the time go? ...
