Re: 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente Build
Thanks everyone for the input. I am waiting on some 12 AN fittings and a bracket that fits 351c with an electric water pump. Hope it works. Planning to test fit the motor soon and will add some pics. Darryl

Re: Rampant Lion Valve Covers
Thanks for the input. Just sold them eBay shortly after posting. They were neat looking but I didn’t need them. The buyer must have recognized them.

Re: 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente Build
Progress is slow on the Comet and I need some help. Trying to figure out how to mount the alternator to a set of heads that don’t seem to want it. These are the Yates C3 heads and curious if anyone has seen an alternator mounted on these. The passenger side head has one bolt location that seems to b...

Rampant Lion Valve Covers
Anyone recognize these valve covers? I believe they fit a Ford SB and they have a standing lion embossed on these. Cast Aluminum and I believe they are the tall ones.

Re: 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente Build
Thanks Jim and JT for the input. I think you’re right. It would be cool to open the hood and see it. I just have to build a chassis that can handle the power. It does have a Mustang II up front. I am hoping to do a test fit in the next couple weeks. I’ll post some pics. D

Re: 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente Build
So I have been mulling over what to do with the 427 Clevor motor. The build sheet is very impressive and the motor looks at good as it reads. The issue is that I keep thinking I want to build a cruiser not a weekend drag racer. Where would you go to sell a Ford Small Block intended for drag racing?

Re: 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente Build
Looking for suggestions for a harness bar/ roll bar. Should I buy a kit or take it to a fab shop? What did you do for a roll bar?

Re: 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente Build
More searching. Found the dyno numbers and plugged them into a spreadsheet. The curve looks real similar to Richards Clevor motor.

Re: 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente Build
Thanks Joe. I watched the video. That is a crazy amount of HP. I have been reading through the documentation that the PO noted. He was building a race engine for sure. I just have to decide the direction for the build. Planning to test fit the motor this weekend. I will take some pictures but I real...

Re: 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente Build
So I am starting to gather supplies needed to work on the car. Its keeping me up at night trying to figure out the direction to go with the car. The car has been set up to basically be a weekend drag racer. The 427 combined with a Performance Automatics C4 and a Dynamic Converter torque converter th...

Re: 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente Build
Thanks for the suggestions. I spoke with Modern Driveline on Friday and got a quote. All in it’s about $6k for the TKX and related parts. Thinking that I will switch gears to the C4. I did a little research and it was built by Performance Automatics in MD. I called them to try and identify which one...
