manual to power steering 1966
I have a 66 with a 390 and 4 speed. I want to put the borgenson power steering in. It calls for cutting 2 1/2 inches off of the bottom of the steering column. The engine is out so can I cut the steering column from the engine bay without removing it? Then pull the shaft out from the bottom, weld the...

I966 front bumper
My 66 Comet has the driver side bumper pulled out a little on the bottom. Kind of like someone had a tow strap under it and pulled the bottom out a little. Took it to 2 shops and they said they couldn't do anything. Can't find one anywhere except for a fiberglass one. It's not that bad but it bother...

Re: Change 3 speed stick to 4 speed stick
Just went to take it for a drive and it wouldn't go in any gear. @##@!@$ Jack it up and get under it again......the clip came off of reverse lever. I can't stand those Hurst clips. Got it back on and it's fine. I'm all new to working this much on cars but I'm learning with all of you guys help.

Re: Change 3 speed stick to 4 speed stick
Finally got the clutch, pressure plate and 4 speed in. It was a tranny I bought used and took a chance, well it shifts great except it grinds a little going into 3rd. WTF So I guess it is coming out again for a new 3rd gear synchro.

Re: Torque specs for trans. install
It's a '66 390 3 speed stock, I thought. Ran into a problem, went to put on the 11" pressure plate and the holes wouldn't line up on the fly wheel. I looked at the old PP and it's a 11 1/2" I ordered a new fly wheel, same amount of teeth, so I hope this all fits.

Re: Torque specs for trans. install
Thanks for the tips, I've never done this before but it's going pretty smooth so far. The biggest problem that I had was the top bolt on the starter, I had to get a 2' extension and go in through the front of the engine.

66' clutch fork
I have a 66 Comet with a 390 3 speed that I'm putting a 4 speed and clutch. I took the bellhousing off and put the new throw-out bearing in. How does that clutch fork stay in place. There is a raised bar in the bell where the fork rests but it's loose. There are two holes on the fork one on either s...
