Re: 64 V8 Engine/trans removal issues/questions.

I use a tilting engine lift bar on my hoist. Still a challenge to get enough angle and height to clear the top of the rad support. Helps to have an extra set of hands and eyes when pulling it. Still not a super fun job.

Re: Another AOD swap Question

Had a AOD in my car for a few years. I rebuilt it myself, and I must have messed something up internally, because I could never get the TV valve to work properly, it always wanted to shift early. Messed with for quite awhile, until it started puking oil out and I swapped it for a T5. Worked well on ...

Re: Lavron's '64 Build Thread

I second that. I also picked up a package that contained several different types of gasket material, but forget where I got it. I think my dad (heavy equipment operator by trade) told me years ago that they made orings with bulk rubber line and a special glue, anybody else ever hear of this? (offic...

Re: 63 comet V8 swap rear end suggestions

I also had a Maverick 8" before I swapped for an Explorer 8.8. Its a pretty easy and economical upgrade that comes with a lot of good features. Disc brakes, 31 spline axles, traction-lok, 3.73 or 4.10 gears (which work well with an overdrive trans). It does require a fair bit of work however. Need t...

Wow super nice job on that slave mount! I did not put a cover on mine. Someday when I redo it I'll be doing something very similar!

Re: Ice and Snow

Plenty of people I know have had trouble with these vacuum hub 4x4 systems. If the vacuum lines leak, the hubs stay engaged and you end up needing a new front diff after driving that way for awhile. Terrible design in my opinion.

Re: Exhaust

I most definitely don't get drone like vicegrip gets. No need for earplugs. Not sure if I have the delta 50's or the super 50's. Maybe super 50's since they're supposed to be quieter?
