Re: Upper control arm replacement

As Jim said probably not going to make much difference either way. Alignment will need done. As far as alignment specs you don't want to use the original specs, they were for bias ply tires and don't work so well for radials. daze cars has specs on their site for alignment, about half way down on th...

Car looks GREAT! Al,
I never realized how high the scoop is on a teardrop hood. Is that a Crites hood?

Re: Lou's 65 Comet Build

Made some progress on my dash. Took the piece of 14 gauge I am using for the dash face and marked it for the holes I needed to drill. I laid masking tape down which made it easy to mark. The holes around the bottom edge were drilled and tapped for 10-32 stove bolts. And the bottom filler piece was d...

Re: Lou's 65 Comet Build

Got the mockup of my dash done. Just used a piece of 1/4" plywood for mockup. Went with the more traditional layout, all gauges on same centerline. http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag87/Lous1965Comet/image.jpg1_zpsiqyksvgn.jpg Here are a few pictures of mockup in car. http://i1300.photobucket.com...

Re: Lou's 65 Comet Build

Hey Lou, will the other side of the dash remain stock? or will it be custom? That could change things, also have you installed column and wheel with a seat as to sit in and look from perspective of driving? The two you are leaning towards are good though..........Al The whole dash will be the same ...

Re: Lou's 65 Comet Build

for what its worth I like the first one that you did with the gauges on centerline. but I don't think you can go wrong with either one. Ant Thanks Ant, That was my first thought too. Still not sure but the ones on centerline are really close to the original layout so that would be cool. Here is ori...

Re: Lou's 65 Comet Build

I like your choices. I think my favorite is original mimic . I wonder how it would look if each gauge was exactly above each of the switches? I like the one that' mimics the original too. And still might go that way, I am going to do a mockup of the two I like in wood and then pick. Here is the lay...

Re: Lou's 65 Comet Build

Been sanding/blocking the car, got the whole car blocked and in primer again. Decided to take a break from sanding for a little while and work on the dash. I finally decided on the gauges. Went with Stewart Warner. Still feel AutoMeter prob a better gauge but the SW gave me the old school look IMO. ...

Re: 65 crites hood stuff.

Cary, hopefully you can fudge enough to make it close enough. If not, adding to the hood would save you from paint work on the cowl. And it is do-able, maybe do like the Vettes and use something like a bonding strip. Whichever way ya go wish ya luck with it. Vicegrip, yea their are some critics out ...

Re: Lou's 65 Comet Build

that is true lou, getting mine back on ground was awesome.Seemed like a weight of my shoulders.trying to get a jump on the year with stripping panels to bare metal, and hitting them with a lite coat of etching primer. The car still has the original paint underneath with more primer and the blue pain...
