Has anyone found a tool that will actually bend, curve, crimp the heavy duty steel staples once they are through? If there is a tool what is it called?
thanks.

dum dum putty around front fender bolts
So does anyone know what the reason is for the dum dum like putty around most all the front fender and front grill bolts?
Was it to keep out rain/moisture? or was it help soften the contact between metal frame parts?
Thanks.

61 comet upper control arm hex bushings
I am trying to replace the Hex Bushings on the upper control arms. What is on the market (internet), appears to have a different thread count than the original bushings. It is hard to tell what the original threads should look like. Anyone else have this issue? or knows who sells proper bushings? I ...

61 comet front strut rod
subject says it all. i did not see that the nuts holding the strut rod are some sort of lock nuts and stripped the threads on one.
Or is there s suitable year i can use instead. Don't see anything on the internet for 61, 62, or 63 for a strut rod. thanks. john.m

61 comet strut rod and lock nuts
2 questions: what are these lock nuts on the strut rods? never seen one like it. Is there a way to remove them without a nut buster? and: seeing that I did not know about the lock nut, i destroyed the threads on one of my strut rods. Is there a different year I can use instead? closest i can find is...

Re: 61 comet sedan front fender removal
Got the fender off, finally. whoo hoo. Ok what is the fabric type stuff stapled to the wheel well inside edges to sort of seal out debris? My shop manual doesn't talk about this. Is there a replacement? thanks.---john.m

Re: 61 comet lower control arm, placement of hole for link question.
Thanks!! actually I think i am going to reuse my original lower control arm and replace the ball joint and the bushing. Decent ball joints are pricey and I can get 2 new lower control arms with bushing and ball joint for almost the price of a single ball joint, nice, but makes me think that the ball...

61 comet lower control arm, placement of hole for link question.
So I got my new lower control arms. Pretty much everywhere i looked online, the new ones all look the same, 61-65 ford, comet, ranchero, falcon. Question: I notice the hole for the link that the stabilizer bar attaches to is off a bit from the original one. Will this be a problem? I don't want to da...

61 comet strut bushing replacement
so I see alot of places offering replacement strut bushings. they all appear to be of a different shape. My question is what about that large washer? do I just reuse the originals? I would have thought the new bushings would come with new washers but it appears they do not. I can get a set of origin...

Re: 61 comet sedan front fender removal
Thanks. yeah, read your post about that. Hitting those nutclips with PB blaster and letting them sit. not sure if i will be able to do that
with those pillar bolts. Will try to remove those difficult bolts first. This car is a real challenge with the rusty nuts and bolts. Thanks again.

61 comet sedan front fender removal
The obvious bolts to remove I can see. Under the hood, by the headlamps. Its the 3 my shop manual says are on the 'pillar'. I believe i see one at the top when i open the door. Its the other two that are a mystery. Do all the bolts have that clip on nut holder holding it in place? The ones i can see...

Re: 61 Comet ball joint dust/grease boots replacement
surprisingly yes, control arms, upper and lower are available for the 61 Comet. I found an upper control arm that has everything included for 113.00, from B.A.P. and there are many sites selling lowers for around 70 bucks or so. I think I am just going to replace the upper ball joint and upper bushi...

Re: 61 Comet ball joint dust/grease boots replacement
one more question, should I think about replacing the control arms as well or will I be ok with just the ball joints. I have one side off, they
look ok, maybe some rust, but otherwise ok.
Thanks.
