Re: San Diego Chopped ‘64 Comet

Did the Shelby drop up front and got the Monroe air shocks installed in the back. Could probably stand to let a bit more air out of the back. Around 50psi right now. I think I’m don’t screwing with the suspension for now, until I bag it later. https://i.imgur.com/14noGbYl.jpg Love the stance. Keep ...

Yea mine is shiny too. Thought about it a lot before painting it, decided to do it shiny. If the reflection is too much then I will cover it or paint it a satin.

Thanks Lou
Could you buff it with some course compound to dull it up?

Re: Tomb's 65 Comet Build

I Tom if you leave the top of that dash red you will be looking at it a LOT! the reflection in the windshield of it will be right in the line of sight of the road ahead. some people it does not bother but even a white pen or small piece of paper laying up there, the reflection of it drives me nuts. ...

Re: Tomb's 65 Comet Build

Well I got my car moved into the heated garage and have been sanding and buffing. After buffing the cowl I realized I missed bondoing some small dents right where I would see them every time I get in and out of the car. Bummer So with some advise from Lou I sanded down the cowl and the top of dash b...

Re: Lou's 65 Comet Build

Awesome work Lou. I love seeing the detail you go thru to get great results.
Question for you. What are you going to install behind the rear seat where there was just a piece of card board like material? I'm trying to think of something that would be more insulating and sound proof.

Re: Wiring ideas for your car

John I bought a IWISS 1424B Weather pack Crimper Tool for Crimping Delphi Packard Weather pack Terminals similar to the one you suggested from Amazon for $20.00. It's designed for 16 gauge and smaller but I'm making it work well for the bigger sizes. I can't pull the wires out of the connectors and ...

Re: Wiring ideas for your car

I started to wire my relay box to see if the cheap one will work. It seems very sturdy and I wired it up for the high and low beam lights with the high beam switch operating the relays. The relay you see is a 40 amp for the high beam lights with a 30 amp fuse feeding it. This relay box comes with a ...

Nice job on the AC John. Love the hood lock.
I'm installing a security system which will have a tamper switch for the hood. Hoping that will keep people out from under the hood.

Re: Fixing small dents in new paint

You can pretty much do that. We use to put bondo over paint all the time when I worked at ford dealership. Your using the Platinum bondo? Sand the area's you are going to bondo with 80 grit, you could prob get away with 120. Make sure you sand beyond where you are applying the bondo a little, you d...

Fixing small dents in new paint

I just painted my car and missed fixing a couple of small dents in the cowl. I want to redo the cowl and I don't know how far down I have to sand before I can bondo. There is 4 coats of clear on top of 2 coats of base on top of sealer on top of build up primer on top of epoxy primer. I would like to...

How does your security tie in with your lights?

Lou
When you lock it or unlock it, it's set up to flash the parking lights, but you don't have to wire it up. I'm pretty sure I will.

Re: Wiring ideas for your car

While looking at switches I found out that Ford headlight switches in the early 70's had 2 circuit breakers built into them. A 18 amp circuit breaker for headlights only and a 15 amp circuit breaker for the rest of the lights. I was thinking of going this route, that way if 11 or so amps I am runni...
