Finally got around to getting the frame cut and now the the frame is at the original factory ride height.
I also got started on the rear quarter metal work.

Re: My first 1964 Caliente/Comet project
Well, It's been a while since the last post and I'm pretty well healed up after ankle fusion surgery last July. It's been a long winter not being able to work on the Comet much but that is gonna change. Over the winter I acquired another '64 Comet Caliente pro street project that some of you are fam...

Re: My first 1964 Caliente/Comet project
It looks like it has a nice stance in those pictures. The stance does look good, but I only have about an inch of clearance when I turn the wheels from hitting the wheel wells. Is this too close for comfort ??? I do not have the fenders bolted on exactly where they need to be , I just put them om t...

Re: My first 1964 Caliente/Comet project
If the guys who built the frame say not to modify the s next to the firewall, did they offer any suggestions on what they would do? Could you cut the entire s out of the frame and have a new one made at the correct angle to tie it all back together. That way your not modifying the s and weakening i...

Re: My first 1964 Caliente/Comet project
I don't know,Red.You might be running into other problems with that arrangement...Like coilovers being too short and not enough adjustment left to set the camber if you want to keep the car level.Guys usually want to keep the motor as low in the body as they can. It's your car and I definitely see t...

Re: My first 1964 Caliente/Comet project
Here is where the body will sit. Definitely going to need a tear drop hood !! You can see where the old frame was and where the new frame will be, almost 3 inches difference.

Re: My first 1964 Caliente/Comet project
Well, I ran into a little problem with the new frame,...While setting the body down onto the chassis I discovered that the new frame was higher than expected. Instead of a 4 3/4 inch rise on the frame at the firewall I have a 6 inch rise. I was trying to incorporate the old frame rails by sliding th...

Re: My first 1964 Caliente/Comet project
Well after 16 weeks after ankle fusion surgery, I'm back to work on the Comet. Very close to landing the body onto the new frame. I found out that a self leveling laser level is your best friend when lining up the frame and the body. We cut out some rot in the trunk area and replace with 2x3 and 2x4...

Re: My first 1964 Caliente/Comet project
Getting the frame ready to roll in under the body to see how it's all going to line up.
I have to give a shout out to Fairlaniac, without Doug, this chassis planning/building would have been a nightmare ! Thanks a ton Doug, can't do it without you !!

Re: My first 1964 Caliente/Comet project
Work continues on the 64 project... Finally got her media blasted, the plan was to blast with water and glass, but the paint and crud came off so easily the water wasn't needed.
