Spam and Porn on the Site

Hi everyone I understand we are getting some undesirable posts or spam on the site. I have given BossCylone some privileges to be able to zap them easier hopefully. Also one big change is that new users must be approved before they can post. Boss has kindly agreed to keep up with those. If he needs help please let me know and I will make another person admin to be able to assist. I still have not updated the site and am waiting for help from someone. I will keep working on that. I have the install ready to go but I am nervous about doing it alone. I hope limiting the registrations to need approval will help ferret out these unwanted registrations. thanks everyone. ~~Lori

Thanks Lori! That worked. 3 tried to join last night but had to wait for approval. When I logged in and checked them they were all from IP addresses that are known spam areas in or around Russia. I was able to get rid of them before they were ever able to become official members.

Just got two more. Requiring approval seems to be the way to stop them from posting, but it is crazy how often they try.

It’s been a wealth of knowledge from tech tips to up grades, from parts to trials and errors to assist the project builds of so many of us, me included. I wish Hawaii was connected to the states so I could drive and fellowship with many of you, but this is a great way to stay connected. We are all so glad you have joined us here in our community. This forum is a wealth of knowledge and the ability to read 15-20 year old threads is really nice to look back at how we did things then and how we still do them today. If me and my wife every make it to your island we will look you up.
