Australian Drag Racing Grand Finals
had a big win with the Comet a couple of weekends ago, travelled across 3 states about 1900 miles to race at the Australian Drag Racing Grand Finals meet, ended up winning my bracket, Super Street against 65 other racers, its the biggest field I have seen in my bracket, some close racing, the Comet was running very consistent all weekend, I could dial it within 0.01, best time of the weekend was 11.021 & I was cutting some great lights too, 0.07, 0.06, 0.04, 0.002, 0.004 & a safe 0.1 in the final I beat the Australian Champion by 0.009 in the final, won enough prize money to cover my fuel & more importantly the highly desirable gold christmas tree trophy, its the Aussie equivalent to the NHRA wally trophy & got enough points to be my state (N.S.W.) Divisional Champion again for the 2nd year running, had a great time & met some more great people, then the following week had another shorter 1000 mile road trip with the truck with our 1934s for the early Ford V8 national rally, only had 1 day at home to reload, the big 64 Merc truck has done 3000 miles in the past 2 weeks & hasn`t missed a beat. but has gone through a heap of fuel!!. Congrats, John! I like the way you've got that trophy belted in riding shotgun.

Great stuff and congrats!! Every time I see the truck, I wanna take a trip up to Canada and search out an M100! Do a mini-me version of the big dog!!

Very cool! Had to do a double take at the trophy pic I was wondering how comfortable it was going to be with that in your back! Then I saw you put the steering wheel on the wrong side, silly Aussie!

I like the matching car and truck combo and congrats on the racing. Did they make a Mercury version of the Excursion down under?
Only use the brakes to stop and get gas.

Re: Australian Drag Racing Grand Finals
The race meet was on TV last week heres a link to the replay, my bracket is 10 minutes in with a good slo mo of the Comet & the final round is at 1h 2 minutes.
I am not familar with the Excursion model but I don`t really keep up with the newer model cars, its 1970 or earlier for me. John
