I just got home from Roy's memorial in Camarillo. It was fun, sad, touching, emotional and really great all in one. First off Roy's Comet was the centerpiece and got my tears started just walking in. His sons Doug and Kris and his whole family are great people. Roy had quite a background. He was really into the custom vans in the 70's. He was quite an athlete which I knew a little about but not much. He competed in triathlon's which is pretty serious stuff. He had some pretty wild boats as well. But through it all he kept his Comet. His picture albums were on display with old pics of the car all jacked up in the back but that was the style at the time. Several really cool cars came to the event and then all of the World War 2 airplanes happened to be flying as well. A great day for a sad occasion. Brian

I made it to the memorial with Comechero. There was a large turnout of family and friends. Roy would have been proud. Doug Pool fired up the blue comet. It was like Roy was still there with us. Was a nice memorial to Roy.
Comethead was there with his comet and another fellow from the TFFN forum. Missed Brian and any others that were there.
A few old aircraft were coming and going so added to the event. Was worth the long drive to be there. Am glad I could attend it was well worth honoring such a man.
This was a memorable moment.

Anyone who was at the memorial for Roy may be interested in this. There is a program on the Smithsonion channel called The Weapons Hunters just recently, the episode called Big Bad B-25. It features the B-25 that was there during the memorial. Number on the plane MB II. I'm sure many remember seeing it. Part of the filming was done there at the Camarillo airport at CAP. It was just on and will be on again Sat morning at 9:00 am same channel. I enjoyed watching and thought others might as well.

Found another episode of Weapns Hunter on Smithsonian Channel called Pearl Harbor Paybeck. Part was filmed at CAF Camarillo airport.
