Auburn Cruise Nite - Auburn, CA

Post by JimsHot66 »

The 38th Annual Auburn Cruise Nite kicked off last night. First of five events this year. We had over 350 cars (only one Comet that I saw :) ) and a ton of people showed up. Great to see folks getting out and about again.

Only pre 1972 cars. Some VERY nice cars. This Falcon was beautiful! It was the kid's grandfathers car that was passed down.

Cool bird 8) I like the color :P

Saw the roadster and tail-end of a Mach 1 in first pic. Same other Comet as your last meet?

But sometimes ,I guess that 10th time it feels so good to have a buddy! even if you cant find him! Almost didn't go that day & rain stopped & the sun popped out so I took off,had to come back home to get the camera when I saw it,but never did speak to him. he came one other time that I just cruised by ,I didnt have time to stop. Maybe I'll catch him someday.

I haven't had that chance in a long while but may if I go to the big Bayou Run meet in the Fall, missed the last one.

There's a Poncho goat herd here and I know those boys. Give 'em a hard time every time I see 'em, driving those barges
Challenged a 389 tri-power to a street race but he backed down :P

In my limited experience, these conversations start two ways:

1. "What kind of car is that?"
or
2. " I had a 1965 Cyclone (or other year/flavor Comet) with a 390 and a 4 speed back in high school..."
:) :)

Yep, you nailed it. :D Back in '80s-'90s, I met several Comet owners locally but they've all seemed to disappear but one (besides me).

Have had a few more recent conversations that were quite interesting. When strangers drop by the house to chat it up, it gets fun.

Yea even the boys in black chased me down to ask ''what kinda car is that?'' I drew a blank for a second ,finally remembered . guess my guilty conscience had me froze,I had went out that road to thrash it but when they pulled out behind me I couldn't.

Think he wrote that down on his pad?

Last trooper pulled next to me rolling around 60 mph, wouldn't pass, just looking. He gave me a thumbs up and nailed his SUV and disappeared after I gave him a friendly wave.
Those guys are something....... :!:

Clearly you came out the winner in that exchange...They usually ask me for license/registration, then an autograph. :(
