71-73 Mustang driver's door jamb needed

Post by mopar 346 »

Good afternoon folks,

I was at a friend the other day and he is doing a 71 Mustang and he needs a driver's door jamb and rock at the front of the rear quarter. He said they didn't repop it and he couldn't find a used one, I figured this is my best Ford connection to locate one. Any leads on one would be appreciated, either a business or anyone who might have some parts car.

Thanks, Kevin

If you are referring to the door latch & striker plate, they're both available from CJ Pony Parts.

I have a three in my backyard, one coupe and two fastbacks. What exactly are you looking for? I was not sure from the first post, sorry.

I just looked through 25 pages of offerings on sheet metal and body for a 71 on the CJ Pony site but nothing there, when I searched door jamb I got the switch, striker didn't reveal anything either. Any chance you have a link.

Thanks

The door jamb and striker plate area that the quarter attaches to. Even the rear part of the rocker if it's good.

Thanks

Ah, sheetmetal split from sagging door slams? (worn door hinge pins). Been there, hammered it out, welded it up.

Nope, rusted beyond welding, he's looking at building it right now. Just seems to me it'd be available. It least used.

The door jam is included w/ the door skin (Dynacorn).
Maybe the quarter jamb is included w/ the quarter panel. :?:

I guess I'm using different terms than you, the door jamb as I think of it is part of the car, a door skin typically or at least all I've ever seen, is only the outer (visible from outside) part of the door with a flange to be folded over. Johnny was right by calling it the B pillar, with the front jamb being the A pillar and the sail panel area being the C pillar. Full doors or door shells have the entire metal part of the door for lack of better description. Quarter skins are typically or again, all I've ever seen are basically from a rear quarters upper ridge (where it turns back to the trunk) to the rocker, wheel well and trunk extension, a full quarter generally goes into the trunk opening, the back glass and the 1/2 inch or so that folds into the B pillar as well as the rocker, wheel well and trunk extension. The only full quarter that I know of (if memory serves) that actually incorporates part of the B pillar is a 69 Camaro, I'm not even sure about other Camaros as I haven't had them in hand. Looking at the Dynacorn full quarter on CJ Pony's sight, it only wraps the 1/2 inch in to mount to the B pillar. I didn't find a door skin on their sight, only a full door shell.

Yea that's a complete door shell, the part needed is part of the body so to speak. Hopefully Boss has something available.
