So I have a 1963 Comet, and I think seat belts were an option that year.
A few questions:
1) Does anyone out there have factory seat belts in a 1963 or earlier Comet that they could post a picture of?
2) Was there a hard plastic cover over where the belts coils up?
Mine has nothing covering the seat belt and the buckle hits on the sill plate and the door panel when you shut the door.
3) Does that number pictured on the seat belt label in the upper right mean these seat belts were from perhaps a 1968 vehicle?
I have a feeling my car may not have come with seat belts and maybe someone added them?
Any input and/or photos would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Doug

Re: Seat belts
Mine same as Pat's, Doug. Anchors behind front seat on floor. Non-retractable belts but I'm sure they are aftermarket.
Post a pic of the latch belt. May be able to identify by that.

Re: Seat belts
I have seen similar exposed rollers as these on ebay. they always brought pretty good money. more than I wanted to dish out. they were made by rotunda, who made a lot of parts for ford. Not sure but looking at them in pics it looks like you can add the rollers to any lap belts?
Re: Seat belts
Thanks for all the great info and pix.
Here are more photos I just took.
It looks like I have the factory mounts like Pat’s.
Not sure if they all came with those or not?
The buckle itself has “Hamill” on it and the belt as the label as shown.
The retractor for the belt has “Roll-a-belt”
So maybe aftermarket?
The “Ford” label on the belts are throwing me off.
Whatcha think?

Mrs. Pickles may have had the belts installed by the dealership in '68 when seatbelt law was enacted.

At least now I know that there was a hard plastic cover over the retractor. Will try to hunt a set down.
