1965 Mercury Comet A/FX
1965 Mercury Comet A/FX
Hello. Not sure if anyone will be able to help me out, but any help would be appreciated.
My father was the lead mechanic on Paul Rossi's Goldfender 1965 Mercury Comet A/FX that was owned by Arnie Beswick before them.
The team broke up when most of it's members were drafted and my dad and Paul hadn't seen each other up until about 8 years ago.
I'm doing research for my dad to hopefully surprise him with some new photos or contact info.
If anyone can help me out or point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it very much.
Mike D.

I don't have any info but I think it is a tremendous thing that you are doing. This is a good bunch of guys so someone will come through. What area did they base out of?
Good luck, Kevin

Here in Taylor Mich. from everything I've gathered. Growing up there were a couple pictures he had hanging up in the basement of the car. He never really talked much about it though. I've pieced enough together for a start, and I called him today to do a little poking around. Probably thought I hit my head or something.mopar 346 wrote:I don't have any info but I think it is a tremendous thing that you are doing. This is a good bunch of guys so someone will come through. I know the car went from Arnie Beswick to Paul and my dad. Also have managed to trace it up to 2010.

Mike, go on the HAMB website. They have a lot of info and pics in the 64-65 Comets forum. They have a forum over 300 pages. There are some racers on here that can lead you in the right direction. Jim

That's a good thread. Read it all and enjoyed the pics.
I'll ask him about that. LOLAl2006 wrote:Cool Pics. What the heck was Goldfender running to need a parachute?

Here is the one I have hanging in my barn. Always been my favorite 65! Also, welcome to the forum from a fellow Michigander!

If I'm not mistaken he put it up for auction in 2010 at a Mecum auction. Never heard if it sold or if so how much.

Just sent a message to Sylvia Hauser. She drove one of Pauls Dodge Challengers.
I don't know if she can get me any contact info for him or not yet. Hitting alot of dead ends in this so far.

I think he still owns the car and I know that he is a member of Comet Central forum and The HAMB.

Let you know if it turns anything up.
Much appreciated!
Side note: This makes me wish I were rich and could get that car back for him.
