So today we went up to huntington beach peir for lunch
with a nephew of Marilyns. Decided to drive down the coast
home instead of the freeway. Somewhere about Newport Beach I caught a glimpse of a 64 post in oncoming traffic painted up like the
African Safari Rally cars.
Did someone post a pic here of one
or did I read it elsewhere.

Safari Sighting!
Re: Safari Sighting!
So, I got invited to a back road tour of California started Sunday, and runs through Tuesday. Generally this is run by small European and Japanese sports cars.. I showed up at the start Sunday morning early, and to my surprise I was not the only Comet on the tour.. Grabbed some photos at the lunch break. He is not staying at the host hotel, hopefully I will see him again tomorrow..
Hope that helps Fred!!
Wasn't the only Comet sighting of the day.. Also spotted this little 4 door 63 in a driveway..
Looked like a driver..

Is that 64 a Tribute car? I thought all the Safari and Endurance Comets were Hardtops!! Good looking Comet either way!!! ROY.

Re: Safari Sighting!
Talked to the owner tonight at the dinner.. His father in law drove an original car in the original race.. So when he decided to build a re-creation, they went from original FIA certification submissions and countless photos.. He says it is absolutely as correct as he can make it. It is an amazing car, and pretty darn good for this rally, which takes place on many pretty rough and twisty roads thru California's back country..
