Power steering conversion
Power steering conversion
I have a 66 Comet 390 3 speed stick manual steering and brakes. I need to change this to power steering and all the power steering boxes say that I have to cut 3 inches off the steering column. Is there any way around the cutting of the column and if not is that a big job? When I was looking to buy a Comet I wanted to get that with the car that but there aren't many out there so I got what I could with hopes to change a few things. Thanks
Re: Power steering conversion
I guess I don't need help. I just talked to a local guy that works on older fords and he wants to take a look at it. He said he can get original equipment that he will restore and install that. I think that will be better than buying aftermarket parts, don't know if they will be as good but better than what I have.
Re: Power steering conversion
I have all the power steering components for your 66 Comet except the box. They were only on my car for 6 months before I removed them. They are basically new. Let me know if you still need them.
