Bench seat adjustment cable

Post by cyclonbrian »

I took my front bench seat to the upholsterer to get it recovered about a month ago. I am ready to install it but when I looked the cable that goes from the adjuster lever to the other side does not look right. It is all attached but he hog ringed it to the from of the seat frame. This does not seem right. Does anyone have a picture or can tell me how the cable is to be routed? I does not look to just go strait across as the tranny tunnel hump would press on it.

Thank you for any help you can give

Brian

yes that's how mine was, hog ring was not tight so the wire can move. this keeps it from dragging in the middle.

I said hog ring, but then got to thinking seems like I just unhooked from something when I took it off . looking at this illustration it shows a hook type thing which makes more sense, that way you could undo it if needed,& reattach easily. but I doubt that I would take the trouble to change the hogring unless it was too tight & wouldn't allow movement.

Here is a picture of my seat. The cable is seen at the far right. The lever is at the bottom along with the tensioner.

Do you have a photo of where the cable goes in the front middle of the seat?

Thank you

The best I can do right now. The wire has a little play, not much.

Mine looks like it’s going through one ring, where yours looks like it goes through several. Like John said, “if it works leave it as is,”
I agree. Is it binding or is it operating smooth?
