Check this out:

with the crites shock tower kit, this would work, right? and a little custom fabbing, carb hat, and blow through carb.
Let me know what you guys think!

WOW!! I finally won something at the drag strip! LOL.Somebody told me the HO 302 is 40lb lighter than the 68 302 and its all in the bottom end? I kind of believe it . I was beat by a 10.50 second 351 at the track he is hopeing it didn't bend his distributor ( broke the cam ripped the hole front off the block and through rod out pan) his broke at 6,000 rpm at the end of the track and mine broke in the pits.

Judd, I used to have a statue made of broken race parts.
tossed it all 'cept this..... stock 65 289 rod that had a cast
piston on it. Ran it too hard in a street stock circle track
car. The wrist pin was out in the water jacket. Thats the
head of the rod bolt you see thruogh the wrist pin!
I can't believe it, such a sharp bend and not even visible
stress cracks in the beam of the rod. The crank came out
perfect, used it my late model. Pics coulda been better!

i have seen that before a racer from around here use to run 302's. he blew one up at the track. the next week he was back and ask if we wanted to see something. we were curious and said yes. laying in the trailer was the blocck from the week before he took off the intake and the oil pan and the block fell in half. it had cracked clean through, and if i remember right he saved most of the motor. it didnt really damage much just stress cracked through the middle. i told him to run it in the 4 cylinder class.
