This is to let you know that the V6 swap went very well, but I'm not
quite done. As luck would have we finally found the home we want to retire
in but theres no garage and its 600 miles away so,guess who gets to
go on the back burner till 07,ya.
Well all the fabing is done, so wiring and firing in the spring.
This email address will be done at the end of june, I will inform you
when we get a new one!

Sassy's v6 project
Hi all, well spent the last week back east working on the V6 project.
To my delight it runs. But what a week, lived in a boler camper in
the parking lot of the shop where I was working on the car. The
first night it went down to 0' F and I challenged my sanity!
It got better after that and the best part was the focus I had.
I ended up finding out about a fellow that has the touch with computors
and he did that for me and being a 5speed made it simpler I guess.
The shifter is further back on this trans, and I have the original center
console. It looks great coming up where the little tray was and the leather boot fills the spot almost perfect. I also have an original underdash AC with the Merc God head, I don't know what year it is ,but it sure looks good hanging there so It will get used.
I lucked out with the driveshaft too, It so happened that where I put the engine in the drive shaft was the perfect length, and all it needed was
a u-joint that mated the Couger shaft with the 9 inch in the car(25$)!!
Probably the biggest challenge was to R and R the engine and trans again because I broke the bleeder screw off the hydrulic clugtch and then rounded a belhousing bolt requring removal of both! I built my own
headers, highly modified oil pan,engine mounts, surge tank for the
fuel injection,and modified the aluminum tubes to the intercooler to fit
the Caliente. The swap is far from done as it still needs a complete detail
and cleaning and polish all that aluminum.
Can you tell I 'm very proud of this swap. On start up the only problems we had were some vaccum issues and a dribble of gas and oil.
The car has completely changed, it feels a way lighter and nimble. And the sound, through the turbo mufflers that have been under the car forever is so different, what a joy to run it up through the gears.
The rear gear has to be changed, 300s with 275-60s and a 5speed
overdrive, the engine wont hardly run that slow at 60mph , I have 350s and 433s to try, but I'm thinking 390s.
I will go back in May to bring the car out to BC when the roads and weather are better.

Fred;that sounds like a great project.Congratulations on your success!Which V-6 did you use?What year is your Comet?You can get away with alot of rear gear with that overdrive,most of the newer cars run at least 3:25's.I would think 3:70-3:90 would be a perfect compromise and give you some snap off the line.NEET PROJECT!! To the Calif. Caliente
I used the supercharged V6 from an 89 Couger XR7.
It's in a 64 Caliente featured in the Photo Gallery on the
second page. I also have the car in Cardomain and will
post some mod pics there soon!

Fred once you have the pictures uploaded to an online location like PhotoBucket ( http://photobucket.com/ ) or one of the others out there, you just use the image tag above and enter the URL of the image, like this;
""
I am sure someplace like PhotoBucket can explain it better than me like this;

Or the tutorial here;
