If you cut some off wouldn't leave a sharp edge that might cut a tire?

If you leave it sharp it will be sharp. you can sand it smooth, probably get it more smooth than it is now.

I bought one of the eastwood wheel lip rollers. It works great. before i bought it we used a baseball bat between the tire and the lip and roll the car back and forth.
Only use the brakes to stop and get gas.

Try this, Your rear end should be, 571/2" to 58.0" I think it's 571/2" Out side of drum to out side. A 72-77 Mav -Comet 8" rear is 561/2" out side to out side. it is a direct bolt in .same distance between spring mts. You have to use 67- 70 Mustang v-8 shock plates and u bolts because your rear end has tapered axle tubes and the Mav- Comet rear end has straight tubes. The 8" Mav-Comet rear is stronger .The axles are the same size as a 9" You can buy the bolts and plates From Ntl Parts Depot For about $25.00. I assume your Comet Is a 64-65. This should give you 1/2" better clearance on both sides. Be sure to ck. you b/s on your wheels.
Hope this helps Butch Evans
