3 Speed manual trans broken

Post by KrautComet »

Hey,
after i fixed my engine problems i noticed a strange noise from the drivetrain.
It comes from the transmission and it seems to be a damaged countershaft bearing or something related with it. When i shift to the third gear the noise disappears.
My questions now are:
Is there a common known part which breaksn often?
Does someone offers an overhaul kit?
Where can i find a good used one in the Usa? (Websites)(I am from Germany)
Can you install another transmission instead of the 3 speed manual?
It is easier to get v8 parts but any other options are welcome too.

EDIT:
I found this trans in the netherlands but it looks different from mine. Do you know if it is a three on the tree trans too?

All mustangs were floor shifted. So if that transmission is out of a mustang it will be set up for a floor not column shift.

What model trans do you have? Does it have a tag?
Best thing to do is rebuild the transmission. Replacing all the bearings and seals.
Good luck.

Most likely you have a 2.77 3 speed with the non-synchro 1st gear. If the Mustang transmission is the same you probably can use it by moving your shift arms over too it.

See Ya,
