So I removed the wheel, drum, back plate, bearings, inner seal to clean it all up. Bearings/race look great, got new seals from CARID.com, they say they fit a 1961 Comet. Inner and outer diameter match the original FoMoCo seal, but the thickness of the new seal is thinner by about 1/16 of an inch.
Does this matter? Can't seem to find out if this matters. Thought I would ask here. Thanks John.m

It more then likely is in the makers of the seal,,,we changed a pair last week...one was a factory ford the other was an after market..it was thinner,,,,as long as it fits correctly...……………….pop
