COMET CENTRAL

Ok, new guy here both to the site and Comet's, so don't beat me up on this one. My car was originally a 6 cylinder car best I can tell, but now has a 289 V8. I'm looking at brake conversion kits to make it Disc Brakes, but have noticed many saying that they fit 8 cylinder hub size. Anyone know if there were two different sizes originally based on the motor from the factory?

Depending on what year, all Comets 60-65 the 6 cyl cars had 4 lug wheels, the V8 has 5 lugs (63.5+), I believe the 66+ cars are all 5 lug.

You shoud consider switching the car to 1965 5 lug steering components and disc brakes. The car will steer and stop WAY!!!!! better. All though my 64 was a V8 car to start with I was blown away by how much better those changes are with a few other tweaks.

you can get disc brakes for 4 lug wheels,(I think the company's name is scarebird) but 60-64 steering parts are getting harder to find & more expensive, & may someday be extinct . But since mustang steering parts are the same as 65 comet/falcon (except for the centerlink) & stang vendors are plentiful & parts are cheaper,that makes it a better investment to do the upgrade & not waste money going down the other road,& your car will drive & stop better.

Depends on how deep you want to go with this one.
I love my rack and pinion power steering setup with front disk brakes.
I've owned a lot of old Fords and Mercurys and this is the best of them all.
Drives like a dream and plenty of needed whoa power.
