Good used 8" Trac-Lock units are unobtanium and probably shot if you did find one. Have a 'L' stamped with the ring gear ratio on the carrier tag.
Yukon & Detroit both sell new units that will set you back around $500.

I hear the true trac is the way to go, don’t have to worry about the clutches wearing out. I wasn’t concerned about that when I got the tracloc, it’s just a cruiser, don’t plan on thrashing it toooo bad.
Re: Limited slip diff
It's surprising where you might find what your looking for when it comes to rear gears.....my comet has a 8in LS unit from a 1976 V8 mustang 2,,,,I have had it in a 64 4spd stang,a,V8 63 falcon now in a 4sp 64 comet,,,,,,,so don't walk past anything,,always take the time to check out everything,,you never know where you might find just what your looking for,,,,,POP

Not discriminating between 8" & 9 ":
59.25 1967-1970 Mustang

59.25 1967-1971 Comet, Cougar, Mustang, Fairlane

1-2 inches is easy to accommodate with all the wheel offsets these days (or if you're not looking for widest tire - doesn't so much matter).
