C7OZ-5A486-A ?

Post by joswald »

Hello everyone. I need help with this part number. It is a sway bar link kit. I have two of them. They are NOS. My son is a Ford service tech at a local Ford dealer and these were going to be discarded. Luckily my son appreciates old things like I do.( I guess that's why he likes me. LOL) All I know is C7 means 1967. What does the rest mean? What would this part fit? The third digit could be a zero, I'm not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

C7OZ- 'O' is code for Fairlane, 'Z' is warehouse code, don't know where but most parts are Z

5A486 is the part code for the kit

The suffix is the revision number if there is a change in the part. 'A' would be the first kit made, 'B' the next, etc.

I'd say you have sway bar link kit for 1967 Fairlane, should fit Comet but not 100% on that. FoMoCo was upgrading front suspension components on all models quite regularly in the '60s.

I worked in the parts department of a Ford dealer when I was in college. That is the sway bar end links for a 67 Comet/Fairlane. It may fit other cars and years too, but I would need access to the old microfish files to looks that up if they still exist...lol at least that is what we used back in the 80's

My friend Zeke worked the counter @ the local dealership back in the '80s. Used to let me dig through the microfilm and use the viewer to hunt for parts for my '66 Fairlane. Some of them were still in stock @ the time but that was a long time ago.

I found the '60s FoMoCo interchange manual online the other day. If I had any sense, I'd pick it up.

Tons of 60's parts were still available in the 80's. I had all my buddies buying up oem sheetmetal back then.

Out of curiosity, would that '7' be a '2'?
Looking @ '67 Fairlane cross-reference in C&G's catalog, shows a 'C2' designation.
It fits a lot of different models & years. Check out pg. 50-
