Buyer beware. Looks like cheap Mr. Gasket I threw in the garbage recently.
Good repops have the steel ring in the base with predrilled holes, like original.

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I never liked those ralley packs. I like the regular old 64 Cylone tach much better. Also they are cheaper and reproduced so that helps.

That is a good looking tach! I didn’t know they were being reproduced. Price ain’t bad either.
Not sure why they went to such a small factory tach (and clock and vac gauge) for 65 and 66 :?:

I bought one. I’ll let you know if it’s the steel ringed one or not.

Good luck on your purchase, Joe. I hope it does.
I purchased one from Mr. Gasket, thinking it was correct but no big loss. It was a cheap piece.

It's only 6000 rpm tach, I just love that 64 look.

No doubt about it. I'd buy one if I owned a Cyclone

My opinion is that the ‘64 dash mounted tach is iconic, I wanted to keep the look but as mentioned Boss/Cyclone the tach only goes to 6g’s. I installed Auto Meter gauges in the factory dash panel and found that they offer a small tach in the same series as the gauges so I ordered one, in order to make it look somewhat stock looking I machined an aluminum bezel to adapt the tach to the cup. I also changed the mounting position slightly, instead of facing straight back I angled the tach to face the driver, welded up the holes and redrilled them.
Works perfectly.

Jim, that looks great. I also canted my tach toward the driver. I found an old tach at a swap meet that has that original style with an 8000 tach. This is an old picture, my dash looks better today.

I mounted an old Sun mini-tach in my Cyclone years ago. Wanted a stock one but they weren't reproduced back then. Close as I could get to the real deal. I mounted it in one of the holes in the dash and angled it in as well. Had to tighten it a few times but it hung in there.

Happy to report it’s one of the good ones! Steel ring, pre-punched holes and nice thick material :D

Good deal, Joe! The pic on EBay didn't look right, why I voiced concern.
If it doesn't bind up in 2nd gear (too stiff), you're good to go. Lots of cheap synthetic rubber made these days.
