I am looking for a couple of fender “J” nuts for a 1964 Comet. They must me ‘64 because they are 5/16-24 thread not the 5/16-18 thread used in ‘65 and later cars. These are the long style nuts, they are 1 1/8” from the bend to the center of the hole and are specifically for front fender to inner fender mounting. They can be a little rusty but the threads must be in decent condition, I plan to have them replated.
Thanks!

Believe it or not, my local Lowe's carries them (black oxide) in their hardware section.

I am sure they are the “short” style, that type is used on other locations on a Comet, but the fenders use the long style. Also most clips now are course thread, I need fine thread. The finish is of no concern to me because I have refininhed all the hardware to yellow zinc. (Gold color)
Thanks for the reply.

I looked At the source but again they only offer course thread and only in the short U version.
I was hoping someone was parting out a ‘64 and had a couple of extra clips.
Thanks for the help.

I saw another guy on facebook looking for 5/16 x 24 long fender j clips for his 62 comet, so maybe any comet & possibly fords before 65 had the fine threads.
