5 bolt 289 or 260

Asking for a friend-
Anyone have a lead on a 5 bolt block? His is old and tired and he wants to start building a replacement motor.

I have a 289 and a 260.
Both need cleaned and checked.
Only concern is I am in Va.

I think the question here has this 289 ever been bored?,,,,ain't that right JOE ??….cause when I 1st read this,,I almost posted it's a 4in bore....then I stopped and rethought...heck fire JOE knows how big the bore is :wink: :? :lol: pop

Hello again Comethead,
Good news is the 289 is std. bore. Not so good news is it will need a sleeve in number one cylinder.
This is just what I can see.
Still need to pressure test.
I feel confident it will be ok otherwise.

The 260 looks good. But still need to pressure test.
