Floormats

Post by JimsHot66 »

You know things are going well when you are thinking of floor mats... Any recommendations on where to get floor mats for a 1966 Comet? Mine has rubber Falcon ones in it now. Thought I would get opinions here before I pulled the trigger on these. https://www.factoryinteriors.com/wn-pro ... op-280796/
Thanks,
Jim

Reckon it depends on your use and conditions. I have some bare earth around the carport & tend to track a little into the car.

Bought some heavy rubber ones that are dished like WeatherTech mats (have those in my Lincoln). A little soapy water and they look like new after you shake them out. Also catches anything that blows through the ventilation system onto the floor. Carpet stays nice & clean.

This Princess of a car only touches pavement. :D I'm looking at carpet since I think it'll look nicer, especially with "Comet" in red stitching on black carpet.

Thanks,

Rock Auto has ACC floor mats for a little cheaper https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/mer ... or+mat,741

I got a set for a Falcon I sold and they were very nice.

Them look good Jim, doesn’t seem like a bad price. I’m thinking of getting a set for my daughter’s 66, dark blue with white lettering.

Looks like AutoKrafters sells them as well, a bit more for cost I believe.

Looks like Johno has exactly what I'm looking at. Seems there are only two manufacturers in the US, with ACC being the only one doing Comet logo's. What's really motivating me here is that my gas pedal got hung up on the Falcon floor mat the other night. No drama, but made me realize I should have properly fitting floor mats. And they'll look a lot nicer.

Thanks for all the responses!

Doesn't he have the neatest cup holders!
Idea worth "borrowing" I'd say,,,
I'd rather do it myself if it's done right or not,,,isn't that what hotrodding is all about

I definitely miss cup holders in this car! I've got the full console, so no good place to put one.

I don’t have cup holders but I do have floor mats. When I had the carpet installed I asked my upholstery guy make up some floor mats that would fit my modified floor. They have a rubber product on the bottom so they do not move around once they are installed. The heel pad and toe pad on the trans tunnel were made with leftover leather from the steering wheel and dash pad.

Floor mats came today. I really like them! Fit is perfect, quality is good. Selected the 1969-77 Comet logo since it matches Caliente script on the car. These are manufactured by Auto Custom Carpet. Ordered them through Summit since I wanted some other items and this got me free shipping.

They look good, the red script sets them off nice.
