Official 2020 Comet Gathering picture thread

Post by mopar 346 »

Good morning all,

It's a beautiful day in Pigeon Forge. I figured I'd start an official picture thread so folks didn't have to wade through 7 pages of our banter to get to see the cars. I encourage any one to post pictures from the Gathering and of course ask any question related to the pictures on this thread. There's still plenty of time to get here from most places so come one come all.

Enjoy!

#4 has arrived. Could it be that infamous "blue" '65?

Thanks for posting Mike. Despite it showing rain most of the day it only rains for about 5 minutes around 5:30 but it rained heavy. Typically in the Southern states summer showers happen everyday middle to late afternoon, only last a short time and then there gone. Don't get me wrong, there are times that it can be a day long torrential down pour and ruin everything but again typically it's heavy but short showers. It is also typical for the forecast to show rain all day and then it pushes back every few hours and never really happens. This week Saturday has changed from rainy to mostly sunny and back again 3 times since Monday. Obviously I'm no weather man and there are no guarantees but tomorrow is showing rain all day at this point and Saturday being nice, my bet is it will rain some tomorrow but not all day and Saturday will be nice and hot. The point of sharing all this is to say don't let the rain stop you, come on out. It would actually be the exception to have a Gathering that didn't rain at some point in the weekend.

Hopefully more cars and more pictures over the next 2 days so enjoy!

Agreed, Glad to see the tradition continues despite all that is going on. If everybody drove a Comet, the world would be a better place.

Light Blue vert is a 67? That may be the first 67 we've had. What's the setup 289? 390? Engine photos would be nice :)

How about #10

And some group shots of the impressive showing this year

And as always there are lots of tales to be swapped under the tent.

Pugs smoked a little chicken, looks like there was some left over for Pops

Overall I have to say Kevin, Wayne, Pugs and everyone else involved with the Gathering have done an excellent job even on a year that looked like it might not even happen, there was a nice lot of Comets present, lets see if we can't break the records next year, I know I, for one, need to make up for two missed years in a row. I have to say we come together as a group because of the Comets but stay because of the people, not a finer bunch of folks around.

I am dreaming of next year already, and I really have appreciated everyone who has taken the time to send pictures it helps to lessen the sting for us that couldn't make it. Seeing those folks under the tent reminds of the times there, I can almost hear all the stories.

Looks like a great group of cars, great weather, good food and good company. Couldn't ask for better! Surprising that out of 10 Comets, only one was red. Looks like the 64's won-out this year, but I'll be back next year to bolster the stacked-headlight brethren. Don't stay up too late tonight. Lot's of miles to travel tomorrow.

I began to think all Comets were red  Next year I intend to counter your '65 with a '64 however :P
