curious problem...hope you guys can help

I skimmed through all the posts, hope I don't sound like a moron here. when I was younger I replaced everything electrical under the hood and had very similar problems. low and behold I had replaced the battery cables and not wire brushed the inside, there was paint leaving just enough connectivity to drive me crazy. sometimes it's the simple things....
