1bbl carb rebuild C50F R B4MC ????

Post by mtw002 »

I pulled my carb off today to rebuild it. I took it to Advance auto parts and they couldnt find a rebuild kit for it. Anyone know a good part number for a kit? Also anyone have a guide for rebuilding one? Thanks. The only part number i found was the tag on the carb C50F R B 4MC.

I'd find some one else to look for the kit, that tag is what to go by,,,try another store or another clerk,,he might be new at looking up parts JMO....JUST last week went to parts store to get oil gauge sending unit for 1 of my trucks, after 15 or so min, young clerk shut book and said sorry SIR ,we out of them...as I was going out the door, the MANGER came back from lunch or?,I asked him for help,he gave that young clerk some help on how to read that book, come to find out ,they had plenty of sending units on the shelves,,,,,NOW here is the KICKER.......do not get PEED-O'd at the young clerk ! every one has to learn !! know how ain't worth nuttin if you don't pass it on to the next ,welcome and enjoy some great guys ( a couple of ladies also I think)......pop

So i finally found a carb rebuild kit. Napa was the only place in town that carried the correct one. Now that the carb is all clean and installed i cant get it to idle correctly. Its like the throttle is stuck and the RPM's keep climbing. I followed the directions on the kit. Confused..... :?

Make sure you use a base gasket or 2. Check for vacuum leaks. Does it have a spacer on the manifold? If it does that needs a gasket too.
If that dont work remove it and be sure to blow out all the passages with carb cleaner (the strong jet type). If that dont work soak it in Berrymans carb cleaner for a few days.

Yeah i already used a bucket style carb cleaner. Carb came out looking pretty good. I also used carb cleaner and my compressor to blow out any loose FOD. I'm going to pull it back off tonight and possibly redip it over night.

Well i figured out what i did wrong. I got the two rods backwards. Now it runs or should i say idles way better. It still barely moves under its own. I'm going to try rebuilding or replacing the fuel pump.

Thanks, I'm going to try to swap the fuel pump here in a few. Hopefully that fixes it.

Swapped the fuel pump w/o success. Messed around with the points and it started running better. Going to make some final adjustments tomorrow.
