Put a 250ci six into a 64?

Post by david.randall »

All,

Since the '64 I found doesn't have an engine, I'm at liberty to put in what I want; it was born with a six, so I've decided to keep it that way. I definitely want a seven bearing main, and I'm thinking of a long stroke 250 ci six wiith a 2bbl Holley, aluminum head and headers, as I want a mid-range engine. What is a good low-end/mid-range cam?

Is there anything different in the 250 sixes of '69-'74? Were there compression changes?

Are there weight differences between the 144, 170, 200, and 250 small sixes?

Thanks,

Dave

I would suggest the 200cid as opposed to the 250cid it will fit much better.
