Starting to reattach the moulding to the fenders, doors, and body.
Can't get the moulding to snap over the clips in the square holes. I have tried candle wax on the clips but no help. If I do the clips on the bench they snap right in.
Any secrets to snapping them on

I think I found my problem. Using the old clips that were on the car. They had a rubber sleeve around them that was in bad shape when I removed them. Put them back without any sleeve or backing. When I squeezed the tabs to lock them in place it let the clips get too tight to the body & the moulding could not get behind the clip & into the small channel on the moulding. Put a short piece on with the clips not as tight and they snapped right on.
Need to put something behind the clips to keep the edges from being tight against the panels.

Pond liner or shower liner is easy to get at a lumber yard and probably cheap by the foot, I have some scrap shower liner left over from building the house I keep using for body gasket like material on my Comet.

I think I found my problem. There was a lot of dirt inside the moulding under the lips keeping the clip from snapping in. They seem to snap in a lot better after cleaning with a pick. Making the rubber backing out of old rim liner I found.

Here are some pictures of a clip & cover/shield that I removed from the car. Don't know if these were stock or aftermarket. I don't see them listed for sale anywhere on the net.

I found this part number out on the web C0AB-6250024-A I think it is the correct part, Dennis Carpenter shows them for that era of Falcon.

https://www.dennis-carpenter.com/en/car ... lding-clip

Macs and Falcon Parts also have them but none of them show with the rubber part so I am thinking you have to cut that out on your own anyway.

See Ya,
Mike
