Floorpan Replacement

Post by DesertRat »

Can anyone recommend the best replacement floorpan and subframe connectors one should order for a 1965 Comet 2D hardtop?
I am thinking that I want to do the full floorpan change and install subframe connectors.
My new rotisserie shipped yesterday----------------------

Dynacorn is one of the better reproduction manufacturers.

Not sure about who makes decent subframe connectors, I fabricated my own because I did not want anything hanging under the car.
If you cut the floor out while the car is on the rotisserie make sure you X brace the body to prevent twist.

Thanks I looked at Dynacorn and thought is looked good. I ordered the door braces with the rotisserie and thought I would set it down on a homemade frame table after I get it mounted on the rotisserie. I will probably add some additional x bracing before I start torqueing it around.

I could post a couple of pictures but it is easier to post a link to the build album. You will see more details of the connectors. They are welded to the factory torque boxes and front subframe, there are flanges along the length that bolt through the floor. I have plates installed inside the car that distribute the load. The car is very ridged now, and the rear suspension works great.

I think dynacorn is the only one making the full pan,& have only been doing so for a few years. so no matter where you get it from it will be the dynacorn piece. all I have heard said it was a good part & fitment was great.

Thanks, I am thinking about calling Dynacorn to check lead time. And fitment-they show stuff for mustangs and I am unsure how close to Mustang our Comets are.

Dont get the one for the mustang!!! it wont fit !!! they make one specifically for falcon/comet, it's the one you want. it has only been out for a few years.

here is one of our members (lipripper) who put one in his falcon;
