Emblem Removal

Hi. Does anyone have any tips on removing the 'Comet' emblems? I have pried two of them off. I broke the spike off one and bent the second one just slightly. I suspect it will break when I straighten it back out since its brittlish looking metal. I guess I should have waited to take them off until I could get to the backside but in looking at the one on the hood, I'm not sure I know how to get the little clip holder to release anyways. Below is a picture of the backside of hood emblem. Please share your wisdom and save me from myself. I'm probably already $100 in the hole... Thanks.
