New Guy in KC area

Post by fixitmann »

Hi all,
Just found this board.
I am in my later 50's, married 35 years and a general car enthusiast.
I am a Triple ASE Master certified Tech and am a Fleet Manager for a local government.
Been wrenching on vehicles since the mid 70's and look forward to helping folks when I can and hoping to gain knowledge from others.
I have owned all kinds of cars over the years and still do.

I recently acquired a 1963 S-22 Convertible, its has a 1965 200 six cylinder and three on the tree... :)
It was an amateur restoration that had been sitting for over 20 years but stored well.
She looks really good from about 20 feet!!!
Interior is really nice but not sure if correct, top was new and still in good shape.
Its Artic Blue? (light almost powder blue) with dark blue top.
Paint still shines but has its flaws and its obvious in a few places that it has been bondo'ed.
Evidence of a front end accident who knows when and I think that is why it is missing the S-22 emblems on the front fenders.
Otherwise everything else appears to be there.
When I got it I had to repair the brakes all the way around including wheel cylinders.
Replace the heater core.
Rebuilt the Carburetor, drained the fuel tank, changed the oil, checked dwell and adjusted everything.
Runs and drives great now, wife loves to go for rides and gets plenty of compliments.

Things I am looking for and hope this place can help with..
I need the S-22 fender emblems,
Need a hinge for the console lid.
Washer fluid bag.
Advice on installing the rear widow in the convertible top, I have the window it was just never installed.

Looks like a great place and hope to learn and contribute what I can.

Welcome aboard, Fixit! That's my sigpic caption. Mine's a 20 footer, too.
If you're looking for some inspiration, check out Comet Bruce's 63 S-22. Really sweet ride.

Sounds like you've got the skill set to do anything you want to with the car. Any questions about Comets can be answered here. Just post it, and help will follow. Let's see some pics of your ride. Here's how to post them:
